Carl A. Taylor

Carl has twenty-four years experience in information systems technology. His experiences range from very detailed design and development activities to significant consulting activities involving global corporate network designs. As a Networking Specialists, his areas of expertise include UNIX applications and operating systems, TCP/IP, WINXP, WINNT, MS Server,, HTTP, Local Area and Wide Area Network design as well as integration of non-IBM (Macintosh) networking hardware and software products. Mr. Taylor has a vast knowledge of Video Conferencing Systems and Video Switches which include Polycom and Tandburg solutions to name a few.

SIGNIFICANT ACCOMPLISHMENTS
    • Knowledge and experience with Ethernet, ARCNET and FDDI.
    • Management experience totaling approximately 15 years including overseeing technical user support personnel and budgets.
    • Unix experience totaling approximately 22 years, 8 of which were System Administrator and system programming.
    • C and C++ Programming experience well over 17 years.
    • Considerable knowledge of project planning and coordination for both I.S. projects and expansion, renovation and building projects

  • Knowledge and experience with Voice over IP and Cisco CallManager.
  • Knowledge and experience with Video Conferencing Systems, both H320 and H323 standards.
  • Assisted in the strategic development, consultation, and documentation of a Disaster Recovery Plan for a campus-wide hospital which included cold-site and hot-site connections, and a Network Recovery Plan, to other sites located within the U.S.
  • Established Internet Access in 1987 for the Tuple Group which consisted of Texas Southern University, Howard University, Lincoln University, Langston University, Southern University Baton Rouge, and Texas A&M – Kingsville.
  • Consulted and made recommendations on technical proposals submitted by vendors for a campus-wide fiber optic network design for a liberal arts college.
  • Expertise in Cable plant design and implementation; Thorough knowledge of project and coordination for both I.S. projects and expansion, renovation and building projects.
  • Design managed and installed LAN’s in the College of Business, College of Engineering, College of Nursing in Houston, Career Placement, President’s Office, and Graduate School encompassing the network to ten buildings with three remote links for Prairie View A&M University.
  • Advised and assisted the IPS department at Prairie View A&M University on the campus-wide network project with network designs for connections, access and components.
  • Implemented and Design TCP/IP and DECnet based networks for Union Carbide Corporation (Seadrift Plant) and bridge services to remote location in Victoria, TX.
  • Has Taught Various PC Building, Software Installation, TCP/IP Installation and Troubleshooting classes to various colleges, universities and secondary schools.
  • Has Expertise in design, implementation and support of Local and Wide Area Networks, and troubleshooting a wide variety of data communications hardware and software.
  • Has Expertise in the installation and configuration of Hubs, Bridges, Routers, Gateways, and Communications Servers.
  • Has UNIX experience totaling approximately twenty-two years, PC experience totaling twenty-four years, Macintosh experience totaling fourteen years, and expert in Homepage Design, HTTP and HTML.
